NEW HOPE VISITORS Automotive Technology instructor Dale Henry meets with a group of students from New Hope High School on Sept. 30, when about 75 New Hope sophomores, juniors and seniors toured EMCC’s Golden Triangle campus. The tour began with an overview for all the students, who were then split into three smaller groups for a closer look at academic departments as well as career-technical programs – Automotive, Nursing, Welding, Drafting and Design, Cosmetology and Electronics. n Click here for more information and photos.

Sunny Brownlee of the Lowndes County School District and EMCC recruiter Michael Black made the arrangements for New Hope’s tour of the Golden Triangle campus. “We started off talking about life after New Hope High School and preparing for college and what EMCC can offer them. Many were surprised about the affordability and how large the campus was, 3,200 students, but how small the actual class sizes are, not more than 25 in a class,” Black said. “We encourage all of our district schools to bring students to the campus. I feel campus tours are critical in getting high school students thinking about life after high school. We make a concerted effort to make campus tours meaningful and informative to students, while also making it fun. Students who have never been on the campus are always surprised at how large and beautiful our campus is. “Schools may schedule a tour for large groups or students may want to tour the campus on an individual basis with their parents. I encourage both as students and parents usually have different sets of concerns and questions.” Tours are available daily from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. To set up a tour, call recruiter Michael Black at the Golden Triangle campus at (662) 243-1974, or e-mail him at mblack@eastms.edu. To see the Scooba campus, call recruiter Lauren Webb at (662) 476-5346, or e-mail her at lwebb@eastms.edu. Please try to allow a week’s notice before your visit so that the recruiters can customize your tour. In the photo above, Electronics Technology instructor Bob Lovelace speaks with students.
